Even though you send a fax or e-mail YOU MUST BRING THE ORIGINAL SIGNED
ENTRY FORM TO THE CAPTAINS MEETING. Your entry will not be accepted without
the original on file. Also, payment MUST be received via PayPal in order
for your entry to be valid. The entry will be considered submitted when
payment is received. ORIGINAL COUPONS MUST BE SUBMITTED. Faxed or scanned
coupons will NOT BE ACCEPTED.
REGISTRATION
AND FEES - Entry fee is $300 per boat/team if received before April 15,
2006. Entry fee is $400 per boat/team if received after April 15, 2006.
Each boat is allowed a maximum of 4 anglers. Extra anglers may be added
for $50 each and includes an extra tournament shirt and social bands for
both days. There is a maximum of 6 anglers per boat. Each registered boat
is eligible for general prizes.
TYPE OF TOURNAMENT - This is a Boat/Team Tournament. No changes are permitted
in registered anglers after the conclusion of the Captain's Meeting. All
dolphin must be entered for official weigh-in in the presence of a boat/team
representative.
RULES - Unless otherwise stated, IGFA rules will apply throughout this
tournament.
FISHING LICENSE - All participating anglers must possess a valid Florida
Saltwater Fishing License.
CAPTAIN'S MEETING - There will be a Captain's Meeting on May 4, 2006,
at 7:00 p.m. at Monty's in Coconut Grove. At least one representative
from each boat/team must be present. All anglers are encouraged to attend.
The rules of this tournament may be amended verbally or in writing at
the time of the meeting. Anglers are responsible for being well informed
of all rules.
ELIGIBLE FISH - Dolphin is the only species of fish eligible for cash
prizes. All fish presented for weigh-in must be in fresh, edible condition
and caught that tournament day. No mutilated fish (based on tournament
committee's opinion) will be accepted. Minimum acceptable weight of 5
pounds is required for entry into the tournament. All participating anglers
are urged to release those fish not to be entered into the tournament.
The release of fish should be in keeping with the best conservation methods
to ensure continued life.
BILLFISH - Billfish are not eligible for entry into the tournament and
should be released unharmed. Any angler bringing a Billfish into the weigh
station shall forfeit any claim he/she may have to tournament prizes.
SCORING OVERALL TOURNAMENT: Only five dolphin per boat may be entered.
The tournament winner will be the boat that has the highest combined weight
of five dolphin. LARGEST DOLPHIN: The largest dolphin weighed will win
the largest dolphin prize. The largest dolphin may be used in a boat's
five dolphin total weight. LARGEST WAHOO: The largest wahoo weighed will
win the largest wahoo prize. LARGEST KINGFISH: The largest kingfish weighed
will win the largest kingfish prize. LADIES' LARGEST FISH: The largest
fish weighed of dolphin, kingfish, or wahoo by a registered female angler
will win the largest ladies' fish prize. JUNIOR LARGEST FISH: The largest
fish weighed of dolphin, kingfish, or wahoo by a registered junior (Less
than 16 years old on the day of he tournament) angler will win the largest
junior fish prize. All entries must be weighed at the certified scale
at the official weigh-in location in the presence of the boat/team entering
them. Tournament winners may be subject to a polygraph test. Any fish
may be examined by any means necessary.
COMMUNICATIONS
- All participating boats should be equipped with a working VHF marine
radio. The tournament committee will monitor VHF channel 82. Official
times or special notifications will be announced during the tournament
on this channel. NO WEIGH-IN STATISTICS WILL BE AVAILABLE ON VHF RADIO.
TOURNAMENT HOURS - Bimini Start (see Bimini Start Details below) at 7:00
a.m. Lines out at 3:30 p.m. Official time for both will be announced over
VHF Channel 82. Fish being fought at lines out time must be announced
over Channel 82 and weighed in no later than 5:00 p.m. The weigh station
will close at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
BIMINI START DETAILS All boats must check in with the committee boat before
the start time. All boats must remain in the area of the headpin marker
of Dinner Key Channel (Donavan) prior to official start. The official
start will be on or about 7:00 a.m. All boats must not leave the area
until the official horn marks the start of the tournament. The official
time will be kept with the tournament director. It is urged that captains
and anglers synchronize their watches with the director to avoid time
issues.
WEATHER CONDITIONS - In the event of unsafe weather conditions, the tournament
committee may choose to postpone the tournament until a later date. Captains
are ultimately responsible for their crew and should make the decision
as to safe sea conditions.
BOUNDARIES This is an open ocean tournament.
PROTESTS - Any protests concerning the conduct of an angler or rules violations
must be filed in writing with the tournament committee no later than 5:00
p.m. on the day of the alleged violation.
AWARDS - Tournament winners will be paid by check, which will be presented
at the awards ceremony to be held approximately one hour after final weigh-in.
TIES - In the event of a tie in weight, the winner will be determined
by the earliest weigh-in time.
REFUNDS - No refunds will be given.
RELEASE OF LIABILITY - It is expressly understood that all participants
in the Grove SLAM! Tournament enter at their own risk and that the Grove
SLAM! or Envision Consulting Group, Inc. their officers and directors
and all persons connected directly or indirectly with the operations of
the tournament, or any sponsor of the tournament shall be exempt from
any liability for slander, loss, damage, negligence, harm, injury or death
suffered by any participant, entrant, sport-fisherman or their companions,
boat captains, mates, crew members, guests, vessels and equipment which
may occur during the tournament.
SIGNING OF THE ENTRY FORM - By signing the entry form, the angler agrees
to follow the above tournament rules and that the tournament and/or it's
sponsors may use without payment or restriction any photographs in which
he or she appears for any purpose whatsoever but not limited to resale,
advertising, commercial or promotional material. All anglers are required
to sign their entry blank form as certification that they have read and
agreed to abide by all rules and the above liability release.
